LOCAL EVENTS IN SUPPORT OF THE QUEBEC STUDENT STRIKE
On Tuesday, students and allies in Quebec participated in the largest act of civil disobedience in Canadian history. More than 400 000 people took to the streets to resist attacks on accessible education and in opposition to draconian new laws which curtail the civil liberties of individuals and organizations.
A number of organizations, including CUPE National and the Canadian
Association of University Teachers (CAUT) have issued calls for members to
support the struggle in Quebec. You can find CUPE's letter of solidarity
here
In support of the ongoing student strike, and with the hope of widening the
fight to include our own struggles here in Ontario, there are a number of
events happening locally in the near future. Please see the details below.
As well, you'll find a short list of links to introductory info in English
about the strike. If you require more details or would like to get further
involved, please contact cupe4600mobilize@gmail.com.
