Good news.  Tonight child care staff, members of CUPE L. 3491, ratified their new contract.  Almost 70% of the member votes were cast in favour of the deal.
 
Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton employ 72 CUPE child care staff across Hamilton.  The Umbrella Board of Directors ratified the deal last Thursday.
 
The one-year contract ends next December.  It includes a two percent raise, better seniority rights, improved preparation time and leaves.
 
Members will see their pay increase by almost $450.00, on average.  CUPE Local 3491 members are looking forward to working together with the Umbrella to provide high-quality, affordable and accessible child care.
